Prayer is our mission to our savior Jesus Christ, to serve the homeless and drug-addicted population of the Downtown Eastside, by meeting physical needs, sharing the bible and supporting pathways to healing and restoration.

Trinity Street Ministries is a registered BC society serving Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside individuals to those who suffer homelessness and addiction through compassionate, faith-based outreach.

What We Do

Prayer. Food. Recovery.

Building trust through consistent, faith-based communication with our street neighbours. We serve homemade meals to individuals experiencing homelessness. Through weekly Sunday outreach we build supportive relationships as they are established, when individuals are ready, we help connect them with trusted recovery programs and community resources.

Volunteers are essential to our mission. Whether preparing food or serving on the streets, and or by prayer, your presence helps bring compassion and hope to our street neighbors.

December 7th, 2025 • Walk Update

As we step deeper into Advent, we’re reminded that this is a season of anticipation, of hope, of joy, and of the One who came to bring light into the darkness. That is the same hope we want to share with our street friends. Thanks to the generosity of friends across Canada and our local church community, we have had more than enough to give and care for folks in the Downtown Eastside during this cold and wet season.

This Sunday was also our first time serving hot chocolate, and it was a blessing. A warm drink opened the door to warm conversations. One brother shared that he had heard about Jesus but felt he could never measure up. We spent time listening, praying, and reminding him of the truth that none of us are clean enough, yet God loves us deeply and calls us still.

How can you help?

Walk with us. As Jackie Pullinger says, soft hearts and hard feet. We would love more people who are willing to pray, listen, and show love to our street friends, especially in this Christmas season.

Give in kind. Sandwiches, hot food, and used winter gear such as gloves, socks, and toques are always needed. Your generosity helps keep this ministry going week after week.

October 19th, 2025 Walk Update

The Lord is so faithful to Trinity Street Ministries! 🙌

Yesterday, we were blessed to have one of *The Way* small groups join our walk. Their generous hearts brought over 200 sandwiches to bless our street friends, and even more importantly, everyone had the opportunity to flex their prayer muscles—chatting with those deep in addiction and oppression.

A highlight: a street friend who was Muslim has now turned to Christ! Hallelujah! There is so much power in prayer.

Two other key moments:

1️⃣ We’re walking alongside a friend whose heart is willing but his flesh is weak. Today (Monday), we’re hoping to take him to UGM for detox and rehab. We’ve connected with the Navigator there to prepare for his onboarding. Please pray that Christ be his strength.

2️⃣ We encountered a woman under spiritual oppression. Through prayer and conversation, we realized she doesn’t yet know Jesus. Please pray for her salvation and that faith would bring healing and discernment.

Chase: A Life Restored

Samson first met Chase on Hastings after Thursday Alpha. Chase was different — he spoke about Jesus with clarity and conviction. “My uncle and aunt are pastors,” he said. “I was called to be a pastor… but I started using again.”

Their friendship grew over food. Samson brought him hot meals, and Chase sometimes helped hand out water to others. One Sunday, Samson asked, “Chase, would you consider rehab?” The answer was always “Not yet.”

Even when friends said to give up, Samson felt the Lord whisper: “This man is My instrument. Don’t give up on him.”

Seeing Chase’s old Instagram photos — a smiling dad with his little boy — changed everything. Chase wasn’t just a street friend; he was a whole person whose life had been stolen by addiction.

One Sunday, a prayer warrior prayed over Chase and confirmed his calling. Soon after, Chase said, “Okay. I’ll go to rehab.” But the road wasn’t easy. Missed appointments, withdrawal, and the lure of fentanyl tested both him and Samson.

At one breaking point, Samson showed Chase a photo of his son. “Do you want your son to grow up fatherless? Don’t you miss him?” Chase’s eyes filled with tears. That day, they watched *The Chosen*, prayed, and he sobered enough to meet with the rehab director.

Friday — “the final boss.” Samson stayed with him, praying forehead to forehead and battling spiritual oppression. At 9 a.m., Chase appeared in a pink sweater. Samson shouted, “Chase! We have to leave!” He hesitated, then followed.

Twenty minutes later, Chase walked into detox. Life saved. Calling restored.

Iron sharpens iron.

October 5th, 2025 Update : Iron sharpens iron.

Tonight was one for the books. A brother we’ve been walking with finally said yes to rehab tomorrow morning. Samson, who’s been building a friendship with him, opened up with real vulnerability — sharing that they’ll be brothers for life, through thick and thin, sharpening one another as they grow.

To close our night, we went to Potter’s Place Mission for the evening service, and guess what? We ran into more of our street friends who we had invited to join. What a beautiful scene — seeing familiar faces, hearts softening, and hands lifted in worship.

As we walked through Hastings, we met so many new friends. One brother, a residential school survivor, shared how it was a living hell growing up in that system… but he now accepts Christ and carries the same living hope we do.

And yes… we even had a baptism tonight!
After some searching (and improvising), we found a place — a bathtub! — to baptize our brother. God made a way to save a soul, even when the setting was unconventional.

There are too many stories to count… but these are just a few glimpses of what God is doing on the streets.

Onwards, family. The harvest is plenty. 🌾

September 28th, 2025 Update

🎉 Another one into rehab, and another said YES to Christ!

The fall vibes are decorating beautiful moments on Hastings. 🍂

🙏 A street friend didn’t go into rehab but accepted Christ—we welcome him into the family of Christ, where he’s known, accepted, and never abandoned. Hallelujah!

🚶‍♀️ Then we walked to Oppenheimer Park and met a lady who said YES to UGM rehab. We walked her there—praise God for another person getting off the street!

How can you help?

🧦 With the rain back, we need LOTS of socks & jackets. If you have spares at home, donate them and bless our street friends!

✝️ Walk with us! As Jackie Pullinger said: “Soft heart, hard feet.” We need prayer warriors praying boldly for salvation, revival, and mercy on Hastings.

September 21st, 2025 .Victorious God.

It’s been two weeks since our last update, not because nothing has happened, but because we’ve been overwhelmed by the signs and wonders of the Holy Spirit. God is moving in our city — He never stops working. Over the past two weeks, more than 10 of our street friends have come to Christ through prayer and through the outpouring of His love. We’ve been left in awe, reminded of the moment when Jesus sent the twelve out two by two to cast out demons and heal the sick. Truly, we cannot thank Him enough for everything He is doing in the Downtown Eastside. 💪🏽

But the Lord is also expanding our reach. This season, He has called us not only to walk with our street friends, but also to share His love with our fellow Vancouverites — the everyday people we pass by on the streets. As we step into fall, our vision is clear: to invite as many as possible, whether in Gastown, East Hastings, or beyond, to come and know Christ. Just this past Saturday, we hosted a street worship 🎹 and outreach session, welcoming passersby in Gastown and inviting them to Alpha.

What can you do?

🙏 Walk and pray with us. We are looking for prayer warriors who carry empathy and a heart for intercession. If God has gifted you with prayer, we invite you to join us in bringing His presence into Vancouver.

🙏 Cover us in prayer. As we press forward, we know opposition will come. But we also know the victory is already won. Pray that nothing hinders the mighty work the Lord is doing here.

May His kingdom come, here on Earth as it is in Heaven. Amen.

August 17th, 2025 Walk Update

This Sunday, a bit of musty air didn’t stop us from loving our street friends! ❤️

It was like the Avengers joining forces! 💪 We had amazing volunteers from The Way, ECBC, and Coastal Church walking alongside us. Apart from our regular PB&J sandwiches and water, we even shared homemade burritos from our ECBC volunteers! 🌯

We made a longer stop at Oppenheimer Park to really listen, talk, and pray with our friends. Some expressed hopelessness, feeling far from the Lord because of their struggles and addictions—but we reminded them of Christ’s love and grace. The blood of Jesus covers us all. 🙏

July 27th, 2025 Update: What a beautiful sunny afternoon for a powerful crossover! Volunteers from The Way and ECBC joined us on the street, and we truly felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. When we invite Him to move—He does. And wow, did He ever.

🙌 One girl said yes to heading to UGM for rehab. Yes to help. Yes to hope. Yes to healing.

July 20th, 2025 – Walk Update

It was another beautiful, sun-soaked Sunday in the Downtown Eastside. Even though many of our volunteers are away on vacation, two faithful ones showed up and walked with us today—small in number but mighty in spirit!

God is so faithful. He opened the door to some deeply meaningful conversations. One of our street friends shared his desire to turn his life around and find a new career path. Another conversation opened up a beautiful moment to talk about Jesus through a First Nations lens—beginning with the Creator and leading into the truth of who Jesus is.

One of our friends is facing a court trial tomorrow. Please join us in prayer—that he would not receive jail time and that we can continue walking alongside him.

We burn through at least 4 flats of water every Sunday in this heat. If you feel led, donations of flats of water would be a massive help.

July 6th, 2025 – Walk Update 🌞
Summer sunshine and blue skies brought a fresh energy to East Hastings this Sunday—and sparked so many more conversations than usual! We had the honour of praying with over 10 people, each moment a reminder that when we slow down and walk at the Lord’s pace, He meets us there.

One beautiful piece of news: one of our long-time street friends and her boyfriend have just moved into permanent housing—right on Hastings. We’re so excited for this huge step forward in their journey!

As the heat continues, we’re finding that cold water is a game changer for our friends on the street. If you’re looking for a practical way to support, we’d love donations of flats of bottled water to help us keep serving with love (and hydration 💧😄).

June 15th Walk Update: The goodness of God never stops—He continues to move powerfully in the Downtown Eastside.

This past Sunday, our team took time to slow down, listen, and create space for the Lord to speak—not just to us, but to our street friends too. And He did.

We’re celebrating *two more* friends saying yes to rehab! Praise God for stirring hearts and never leaving anyone behind. As His hands and feet, we simply show up, obey, and follow His lead.

Serve Day Recap 🙌✨

Huge shout-out to our friends from @theway_vancouver we couldn’t have made 1,200+ sandwiches without you! 🥪💪 It was such a joy having you learn more about who we are, what we do, and most importantly, to spread awareness about what’s been happening in the DTES.

TSM has the incredible weekly opportunity to serve every Sunday afternoon, and our heart is simple: serving doesn’t have to be complicated. It can happen right outside our church home, right where the brokenness is—and where Jesus shows up.

🛐 Prayer Request: We’re walking with two couples who are currently struggling with the decision to enter rehab. In both cases, one partner is ready, while the other is not. It’s heartbreaking—and hard. Please join us in praying that the Lord brings courage, and the motivation they need to take that next step toward healing.

May 25th Walk Update
Another beautiful Sunday on the streets, and another reason to praise the Lord for what He has done—and continues to do!

Today, by God’s grace, **two of our street friends walked with us all the way to UGM and enrolled in the recovery program**. Yes, TWO! What a powerful reminder that no one is too far gone for hope.

Thank you, Jesus, for stirring hearts to take that first brave step toward freedom. We’re praying that both of these men not only find healing in recovery but also fall in love with You in the process.

May 11th Walk Update – He is moving! 🙌

Yesterday was another beautiful walk with our Trinity fam! We had several new volunteers join us, and by God’s grace, we served over 300 sandwiches and even some hot beef stew — yes, hot stew on the streets, come on now! 🔥🍲

Here are just a couple glimpses of God at work:

📖 One of our street friends sat down with us to read through Psalm 73. She leaned into the words like they were written just for her. You could see the spark of hope in her eyes — that quiet tug of the Holy Spirit. She asked for a Bible (we didn’t have one 😞), so that’s at the top of our to-do list this week. Lord, keep drawing her heart! ❤️

🚶‍♂️ Another friend told us he was ready for rehab — like, right now ready. So we walked him straight to UGM. No hesitation. Just obedience. Thank you, Jesus, for another “yes.”

April 13th, 2025 Walk Update

Today is a day to celebrate! The sun was shining, and so was God’s goodness.

One of our young street friends heard the gospel and made the decision to enter the UGM recovery program. Praise the Lord for His unfailing love! Sometimes, all it takes is one touch of heaven—and today, he tasted and saw that the Lord is truly good.

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” — Psalm 34:8

Please keep him in your prayers as he begins this new journey. As we head into summer, we’re believing for more open hearts, more conversations, and more lives stepping into recovery and hope.

**April 6th Walk Update:**

The weather has been unpredictable lately, swinging from sunny and warm on Saturday to harsh, rainy, and cold on Sunday. Despite the challenges, we are incredibly grateful for our dedicated volunteers who continue to show up with consistency, even when the conditions are tough. They are truly our family in Christ, and we stand together, even in hardship.

Though the weather was harsh, we had a powerful moment of celebration. One of our street friends was immediately ready to go to UGM as soon as we approached him. This is a huge step, and we're excited to witness another soul turning a new page in their journey. Additionally, two other street friends are currently on the UGM waitlist. They just need to complete the 7-day detox, and we believe UGM will soon be able to accept them.

We know that it’s a tough and challenging process, but with the strength of the Holy Spirit, we trust that what seems impossible for us is possible for God.

March 30, 2025 – Walk Update

Spring is here, and with the warmer weather, more of our street friends are out on Hastings. Today, we had what might be our largest walk group yet—so many of our dear friends set aside time on their Sunday to serve in the DTES.

We had many meaningful conversations, but one, in particular, stood out. A woman shared her heartbreaking story of losing her entire family to drug use. As she wrestled with the meaning of life and whether it was worth continuing, we simply listened and lifted her up in silent prayer. It was heart-wrenching, yet even in the pain, we believe there is hope in the Lord. We prayed that she would find comfort and be able to grieve with Jesus by her side.

A huge celebration! 🎉 Today, two of our street friends were ready to take a step toward change, and with the help of the UGM outreach team who walked with us, they were able to get into a recovery program. This is what it’s all about—hope, healing, and lives being restored! Praise God!

March 23rd, 2025 – Outreach Update

A rainy Sunday couldn’t dampen our love for our street friends. With the incredible support of Alpha Course volunteers, we prepared over 300 sandwiches in less than an hour at Camp Squeah. After the Alpha weekend, the TSM team stepped into East Hastings, braving the storm to serve and connect with those in need.

The streets were quieter than usual due to the heavy rain, but God still opened doors for meaningful conversations and prayer. One encounter stood out—a street friend who identified as a Christian yet prayed for his own punishment, believing he deserved his suffering, including the pain of a missing hip bone. But we know grace is greater than guilt. No matter the past, the blood of Jesus has already paid for it all. He saves, redeems, and turns ashes into beauty—bringing joy where there was sorrow.

March 16, 2025 – Walk Update

This week, we implemented more formal safety procedures to ensure the well-being of both our volunteers and street friends.

One of our long-time street friends is at a turning point—we are gently encouraging him to begin his journey at UGM. As we prayed together, we lifted up his worries and fears, reminding him of God’s promise:

"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." – 1 John 4:18

We eagerly await the day he takes that step toward rehab, trusting that God is working in his heart.

Beyond this, many street friends asked for prayers—some for healing from physical suffering like ulcers, infections, and frostbite, and others for relief from spiritual burdens. May the mercy of our Lord bring healing and restoration.

As our team continues to grow, we are inviting more congregants from our church and other churches to join us on Sunday walks. A new midweek outreach walk is also in the works—stay tuned!

Lord, have Your way. Thank You for what You are doing on Hastings. Amen.

March 15, 2024 Update

There is strength in numbers, and even greater power in the body of Christ. Tonight, friends from our Bible study group came together to prepare 149 sandwiches and 16 cups of pasta—each one a vessel of love, a conversation starter, and a small step toward transformation.

Every meal we hand out is an opportunity to connect with our street friends, to speak hope into their lives, and to stir their hearts toward healing and a life in Christ.

Please pray for us as we go out tomorrow to Hastings. May we witness the Lord’s hand at work, and may His revival come to the streets.

Feb 23rd, 2025 Walk Update:

Today was an adventurous walk through Hastings. We had the opportunity to share the gospel with many street friends, and one of them is considering joining The Way’s Alpha course on Thursday—a space where they can ask questions about Jesus over a shared meal.

By God’s grace, we also helped a woman escape a dangerous situation with a drug dealer and get into rehab at UGM. Though it was risky, and we made enemies in the process, God’s protection and faithfulness were undeniable. She is now safe, and a new journey has begun for her.

How can you pray for us?
Pray for the Lord’s protection over our walk leaders and volunteers as we navigate the complexities of the street. May His wisdom and covering be with us in every step.

February 2, 2025 – Sunday Walk Update

Today marked the first snowfall of the winter, and it happened to fall on our Sunday walk day. We came prepared—armed with sandwiches, water, warm clothing, and hand warmers for our street friends.

Many of them shared their prayers for shelter, and we invite everyone who supports TSM to join us in praying this week for God’s provision and protection over them.

Lord, please warm our street friends and keep them safe in this snowy season.

Update on January 31st, 2025 Friday Night Outreach

This Friday wasn’t a regular one. Esther, Sam, and Samson took to the streets of Hastings for a special night of outreach.

On this cold night, we handed out chili, salad, and chocolate bars to feed our hungry friends. But more than food, we offered prayers, conversation, and a listening ear. Many shared their struggles—housing insecurity, immigration challenges, loneliness, and deep family tragedies.

As we prayed in the name of Jesus, we were reminded of the love of our Father, who calls each of us into His family. We pray that our street friends find belonging in Christ.

It was a cold night, but love made it warm.

January 26th, 2025 Walk Update

This Sunday was an incredible day for connection and hope. We were blessed to have more friends from *The Way* join us after their prayer walk, leading to an unprecedented number of new faces walking alongside us today.

As we journeyed through the neighborhood, we encountered moments of breakthrough:
- One brave woman is ready to take the next step and enroll in the UGM recovery program.
- Another woman has expressed a desire to engage with us further in a different setting, a step toward rebuilding trust and connection.
- Two other friends are now seeking help with housing and shelter assistance, showing a readiness to move forward.

It’s humbling to witness these signs of hope and change. Thank you to everyone who continues to pray, walk, and support this ministry. Together, we’re planting seeds of transformation in our community.

Let’s keep walking in faith.

January 19, 2025 Walk Update: We had the privilege of praying with someone deeply burdened by the injustice in the world and the broken connections within our city. His pain resonates with our own longing for justice and restoration in society.

Together, we lifted these struggles to God, praying for His perfect kingdom to come—a kingdom of peace, unity, and hope for all.

Let’s continue to walk in faith, trusting that change begins with compassion and prayer.

January 12th, 2025 Update
This Sunday, we prepared and distributed 200 sandwiches, hearty turkey soup, and freshly baked banana bread, thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors. It was a powerful day as we gathered to pray for healing—lifting up those battling drug addiction and cancer.

We are continuously inspired by the resilience and strength of the Downtown Eastside community. Thank you for standing with us in this journey of hope and recovery.

December 22nd walk update: We've made 200+ sandwiches along with beef stew and mushroom chicken! The food blessed the conversation to open up and also, we got to catch up with some of the friends that we met!

December 15th Walk Update: We had the privilege of connecting with two amazing street friends who are ready to take a step towards a new life. Our team was able to refer them to organizations offering sober living and addiction rehab programs. Alongside this hopeful news, we prayed for the many others on the streets who are yearning for hope, healing, and forgiveness. Let’s continue to keep them in our hearts and prayers.
